| Location | Princess Twin Cinemas & Huether Hotel Kent Lounge |
| Start Time | 8:45 p.m. |
| Event Info | Rainbow Reels opening night Gala film screening and celebration!
The opening night starts with a screening of the operetta style documentary Fig Trees. This film, the brainchild of John Greyson, will take you on a journey unlike any that our guests have been on before. A heavenly voiced albino squirrel along with his amputee friend and St. Teresa of Avila will guide you through the narrative as it tells the tales of the work and lives of activists Tim McCaskell, a Toronto local, and Zackie Achmat, of Capetown South Africa. The screening will take place at the Princess Twin Cinemas, doors open at 7:00.
After the screening, at approximately 8:45, guests of the film will be invited to partake in a Gala celebration at the Huether Hotel’s Kent lounge, conveniently located just across the street from the Princess Twin. There, guests will enjoy an evening of hors’d’oeuvres and an opportunity to celebrate the launch of this year’s festival.
More Gala details to follow soon, check the festival website for updates: www.rainbowreels.org. Gala tickets, providing entrance to the film and celebration, are available at the Princess Twin Box Office, WPIRG Office, and Generation-X Video & Media for $12.00. |
